Overview
OSM Concrete was engaged to construct a new 165m² reinforced plain concrete driveway for a hillside residential property in Worongary, providing safe and reliable vehicle access while complementing the property’s natural bushland setting.
A standout feature of the project is the distinctive sweeping curved driveway that wraps around an existing mature gum tree, creating a practical looped access arrangement while preserving the established landscape. Built on a sloping site, the project required careful planning, precision set-out and accurate level control to achieve smooth transitions, effective drainage and long-term durability.
From earthworks and subgrade preparation through to reinforcing, concrete placement and finishing, every stage was completed to deliver a high-quality driveway designed to perform in challenging hillside conditions.

Project Challenges
The property’s sloping terrain presented one of the key challenges throughout construction. Access for machinery, concrete placement and finishing operations required careful planning to ensure a high-quality outcome across the entire driveway alignment.
Maintaining consistent grades while ensuring effective stormwater drainage was essential to the long-term performance of the driveway. The sweeping curved alignment also required precise boxing and set-out to achieve smooth, flowing lines throughout the project.
A key feature of the design was preserving the large existing gum tree positioned within the centre of the driveway loop. Construction works were carefully coordinated around the tree to protect its root zone while delivering a functional and visually striking driveway that integrates seamlessly with the natural landscape.
Construction & Delivery
Prior to construction, OSM worked closely with the client to review design options and develop a practical solution that balanced performance, aesthetics and budget. It was a pleasure for the team to work with curves – we’re working with straight lines most of the time. Whilst it’s more complex and very site-specific, it is great for building experience and kow how throughout the team.
The project began with the removal of soil and stones. Earthworks were then completed to prepare the site and improve drainage outcomes before reinforcement and formwork installation commenced.
Due to the site’s layout and elevation changes, concrete pumping was utilised to efficiently place concrete in difficult-to-access areas while maintaining consistency across the finished surface.
Throughout construction, the team maintained a strong focus on quality, achieving a smooth and consistent broom finish across the entire driveway while ensuring all drainage and crossover requirements were successfully integrated.
Outcome
The finished driveway has transformed access to the property, providing a durable, low-maintenance solution that is both functional and visually appealing. The flowing curves, clean concrete finish and thoughtful integration around the mature gum tree create a feature entrance that complements the surrounding bushland while improving vehicle access and everyday usability.
