Serafina Drive, Helensvale Footpath Upgrades

Overview

OSM Concrete completed extensive pedestrian infrastructure upgrades along Serafina Drive, Helensvale for the City of Gold Coast, delivering safer, more accessible pathways for residents and improving connectivity throughout the neighbourhood.

The project involved the demolition and replacement of hundreds of lineal metres of existing concrete footpath, together with the construction of multiple kerb ramps, driveway tie-ins and associated civil works. Delivered within an active residential environment, the project required careful staging and coordination to maintain safe pedestrian access while minimising disruption to nearby residents.

The completed works have enhanced pedestrian safety, accessibility and amenity while providing a high-quality concrete finish built to meet City of Gold Coast standards.

Scope of Works

  • Demolition and removal of existing concrete footpaths
  • Construction of hundreds of lineal metres of new reinforced concrete footpaths
  • Construction of multiple kerb ramps
  • Driveway crossover tie-ins and reinstatement works
  • Concrete saw cutting and demolition
  • Subgrade preparation and compaction
  • Reinforcement installation where specified
  • Concrete placement, finishing and curing
  • Adjustment and protection of existing services and infrastructure
  • Site reinstatement and final clean-up

Project Challenges

The project extended along a significant section of Serafina Drive, requiring careful sequencing across residential driveways, intersections, kerb ramps and existing public infrastructure.

Maintaining safe pedestrian movement and vehicle access throughout construction was a key priority, with works carefully staged to minimise disruption to residents while meeting council construction standards.

Accurate set-out was essential to achieve smooth transitions between new and existing infrastructure, particularly at driveway crossings and accessible kerb ramps where compliance with current accessibility requirements was critical.

Construction & Delivery

The project involved the systematic removal and reconstruction of ageing pedestrian infrastructure to deliver a modern, durable concrete pathway network.

OSM Concrete coordinated all stages of construction, including demolition, earthworks, formwork, reinforcement, concrete placement and finishing, ensuring consistent workmanship across the entire project.

Working closely with the City of Gold Coast’s project requirements, the team delivered high-quality concrete finishes while maintaining efficient progress and a safe work environment throughout construction.

Outcome

The completed works provide a safer, more accessible pedestrian network for the Helensvale community, improving connectivity while delivering long-lasting civil infrastructure designed to withstand everyday public use.

The combination of new concrete footpaths, upgraded kerb ramps, driveway tie-ins and quality finishing has significantly enhanced the streetscape while meeting the City of Gold Coast’s performance and accessibility standards.

This project demonstrates OSM Concrete & Civil’s capability to successfully deliver large-scale public footpath and accessibility upgrades, reinforcing our experience in council infrastructure, civil concrete construction and community-focused projects.
