Overview
OSM Concrete was engaged to construct the concrete foundation for a new private pickleball court at the Gault Residence in the picturesque, tropical surrounds of Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast.
Positioned alongside the front of the property adjacent to the road, the project required the construction of a large, perfectly level reinforced concrete slab that would provide the ideal base for the specialised sporting surface. Although the site was relatively flat, achieving the high level of precision required for a pickleball court demanded careful preparation, accurate set-out and strict quality control throughout construction.
Working within the beautifully landscaped residential property, our team completed all site preparation, subgrade compaction, boxing, reinforcement and concrete placement to produce a durable, high-performance slab ready for the final court surfacing.
The completed foundation provides a stable, long-lasting platform designed to meet the demanding requirements of recreational sporting facilities while complementing the surrounding landscape.

Project Challenges
Although the construction area was relatively flat, the project demanded exceptional precision throughout every stage of construction. Sporting surfaces require strict level tolerances to ensure consistent ball bounce and player performance, making accurate survey set-out, subgrade preparation and concrete finishing critical to the success of the project.
Working within a landscaped residential property also required careful coordination of plant movements and material deliveries while protecting the surrounding gardens and maintaining the presentation of the site throughout construction.

Prior to construction, OSM worked closely with the client to review design options and develop a practical solution that balanced performance, aesthetics and budget.

Concrete pumping was chosen to efficiently place concrete without the need to remove or damage existing established foliage and planting.
Throughout construction, the team maintained a strong focus on quality, achieving a smooth, level and consistent broom finish across the entire slab.
Outcome
The completed quality slab lays the groundwork for a new pickleball court surface to be created. Once completed the court will no doubt be a drawcard for the family and friends to enjoy for years to come.
