Overview
OSM Concrete was engaged to replace approximately 124m² of existing concrete driveway at a residential property in Elanora, delivering a safer, more functional and visually appealing entrance to the home.
The existing concrete slabs had been significantly affected by surrounding tree roots, causing sections of the driveway to lift and become uneven. This had created a serious trip hazard for residents and visitors and required replacement before someone was injured.
The existing concrete was removed and the area prepared for a new exposed aggregate driveway, designed around the property’s distinctive curved entrance and exit. The sweeping layout provides practical vehicle access while complementing the established home and surrounding landscaping.
The finished result is a clean and attractive residential driveway that addresses the previous safety concerns while significantly improving the presentation of the property.

Project Challenges
The key challenge on this project was the condition of the existing driveway. Tree root movement had lifted sections of the original concrete, resulting in uneven slabs and creating a potentially dangerous pedestrian trip hazard.
The established landscaping and curved driveway configuration also required careful planning during demolition and reconstruction to create a practical new surface while maintaining the character and layout of the property.
Construction & Delivery
Careful preparation was important to achieving the finished result.
Following removal of the damaged concrete, the driveway area was prepared for reconstruction before the new exposed aggregate concrete was placed and finished.
Particular attention was given to forming the sweeping curves of the entrance and exit, creating a continuous driveway that works naturally with the existing home, gardens and street frontage.
The exposed aggregate finish provides the durability required for regular vehicle traffic while giving the property a more refined residential appearance.
Outcome
The completed project has transformed an ageing and potentially hazardous driveway into a safe, durable and attractive entrance to the property.
Approximately 124m² of new exposed aggregate concrete now provides a smooth and functional surface, while the distinctive curved entrance and exit create an appealing transition between the street and residence.
Most importantly, the raised and uneven slabs caused by tree roots are no longer a hazard, giving the homeowners a safer driveway while substantially improving the overall presentation of the property.
The project is another example of how concrete replacement can address both safety and appearance, particularly where ageing concrete has been affected by ground movement or established vegetation.
