Runaway Bay Marina Redevelopment Works

Overview

OSM Concrete was engaged to deliver extensive concrete reconstruction, resurfacing and drainage upgrade works throughout the Runaway Bay Marina precinct on the Gold Coast. The project involved the remediation of ageing and damaged concrete surfaces across multiple operational areas within the marina, including pedestrian zones, vehicle access areas and car park infrastructure.

Delivered over approximately one month, the scope included the removal and replacement of damaged concrete, construction of new concrete sections, resurfacing works across more than 1,000m², kerbing, drainage upgrades, floor topping applications and extensive surface preparation works.

Working within a live marina environment required careful planning and staging to minimise disruption while maintaining access for marina users, businesses and visitors throughout construction. The completed project significantly improved the appearance, durability and functionality of the marina precinct while providing long-term performance in a demanding coastal environment.

Project Challenges

Delivering large-scale concrete works within an operational marina environment required careful staging, sequencing and coordination to maintain accessibility throughout the site while allowing construction activities to proceed safely and efficiently.

Significant preparation works were required prior to resurfacing, including demolition, tile removal, substrate remediation and drainage improvements to ensure the finished surfaces achieved long-term durability and performance.

The project also involved coordinating multiple work fronts simultaneously while maintaining a consistent finish across heavily trafficked pedestrian and vehicle areas within the marina precinct.

Construction & Delivery

OSM Concrete coordinated demolition, preparation, drainage and resurfacing activities across multiple areas of the marina while maintaining operational access throughout the project.

More than 1,000m² of concrete resurfacing works were completed alongside reconstruction of damaged sections, kerbing upgrades and floor topping applications. Careful sequencing allowed the team to manage multiple work zones while maintaining productivity and minimising disruption to marina operations.

The combination of preparation, reconstruction and resurfacing works transformed ageing infrastructure into durable and visually appealing concrete surfaces suitable for the demanding coastal environment.

Outcome

The completed works significantly improved the presentation, functionality and long-term durability of the Runaway Bay Marina precinct.

Through efficient project delivery and attention to detail, OSM Concrete transformed ageing and damaged surfaces into clean, modern and durable concrete finishes designed to withstand the demands of both pedestrian and vehicle traffic within a busy marina environment.

This project demonstrates OSM Concrete’s capability in delivering large-scale commercial concrete resurfacing, reconstruction, drainage and infrastructure upgrades within complex operational environments.
