Rural residential concrete driveway and crossover

Residential Driveway and Council Crossover Concrete Project in Elanora

Overview

OSM Concrete completed a substantial residential concrete project in Elanora involving approximately 250 square metres of new concrete works together with a council crossover to the street.

The project required extensive site preparation before the concrete could be placed. Large volumes of hard fill were imported and compacted to bring the area up to the required levels and create the correct falls for drainage across the block.

Because of the site conditions and the grade of the property, drainage was a major component of the works rather than a minor add-on. The overall solution needed to balance access, water management, durability, finish quality, and compliance to the street interface.

The concrete was completed with a plain broom finish, giving the owner a practical, durable surface suited to the demands of the site and the intended vehicle use.

Scope of Works

  • Residential concrete driveway construction
  • Council crossover concrete works
  • Hard fill importation and compaction
  • Surface preparation and subgrade works
  • Strip drain installation through the driveway and at the base
  • Heavy-duty slab construction for vehicle traffic
  • Concrete pumping across two separate pours
  • Plain broom finished concrete placement

Services Provided

  • Residential concrete construction
  • Driveway concrete works
  • Council crossover construction
  • Concrete drainage integration
  • Heavy-duty slab depth construction
  • Concrete pumping coordination
  • Level and fall management across graded sites

Project Challenges

One of the biggest challenges on the project was placing a large volume of concrete across a noticeable grade while still maintaining the correct levels, finish quality, and drainage performance throughout the job.

Additional complexity came from the need to import and compact many tonnes of hard fill, install multiple large strip drains through the driveway and at the base, and construct the slab to increased depth for heavy vehicle use in line with the owner’s requested specification.

The council crossover also required careful set-out and level control to achieve the necessary compliant grades to the street, making accuracy just as important as production speed across the works.

Construction & Delivery

Due to access limitations and the overall scale of the area, the concrete was placed by pump over two separate pours. This allowed the team to manage site access constraints while still delivering a controlled and consistent result.

OSM Concrete coordinated the works carefully across preparation, drainage installation, slab build-up, and concrete placement to ensure each stage supported the next. On a project like this, the final finish depends heavily on the accuracy of the groundwork that comes before it.

The project combined residential presentation requirements with the kind of drainage and level management more commonly associated with technically detailed access works. That balance was critical to achieving the final outcome the owner wanted.

Outcome

The end result was a well-delivered residential concrete project that achieved the required levels, drainage outcomes, structural performance, and a clean plain broom finish across a large and demanding site.

The owner was very happy with the result, and the completed works demonstrate OSM Concrete’s ability to handle technically challenging residential projects where grading, drainage, access, and finish quality all need to work together.

OSM Concrete is also expected to return to complete the next large concrete area on the property, reinforcing the success of this stage of the project.
