Overview

OSM Concrete was engaged to replace an ageing asphalt driveway at a private residence in Helensvale with a durable coloured concrete solution designed for long-term performance and improved property presentation.

The project involved the construction of approximately 750m² of coloured concrete driveway, completed across two major pours due to the scale of the site and access requirements. The owner selected a darker concrete colour to minimise the visual impact of leaf staining from surrounding gum trees while maintaining a premium appearance.

In addition to the driveway replacement, the project included drainage upgrades and the construction of a GCCC-compliant council crossover, ensuring the finished works delivered both functionality and compliance.

The completed project now provides a durable, low-maintenance driveway solution that enhances the property’s appearance while delivering long-term performance for everyday vehicle use.

Project Challenges

One of the primary challenges was the overall scale of the project, with approximately 750m² of driveway requiring construction across a large residential property.

Access constraints meant the rear section of the driveway could not be supplied directly by concrete trucks without risking damage to prepared surfaces and installed reinforcement. Careful planning was required to stage the works and utilise concrete pumping to maintain productivity and quality.

Drainage performance was also a critical consideration. Existing site conditions required additional stormwater management measures to ensure the finished driveway performed effectively during major rainfall events.

Construction & Delivery
